Support H.RES. 173

Quote of the Day: "It shall not be in order to consider any bill or joint resolution that appropriates foreign assistance for more than one country." - Proposed House Rule H.Res.173
Politicians sneak unpopular schemes through on the back of sure-to-pass bills. DownsizeDC.org created the "One Subject at a Time Act" to change this. Now, there's a new bill that could do the same thing for foreign aid legislation ...a "One Nation at a Time" resolution!
If H.Res. 173 passes and Congress follows it, foreign aid spending will likely fall, especially "Aid to Dependent Dictators." Foreign aid proposals for each country would be the subject of a standalone debate. As a result . . .
* You and I would have time to exert pressure on each one. Our action could secure cuts, or perhaps even defeat some of these bills.

A letter from Teo-con Marco Rubio

Mr Rubio gives a brief history about the Libya regime, and then justify on what to do and how to do it.Also in keeping United States leadership in the world.Save everybody else but the U.S. Police the world, anywhere and everywhere. no wonder the U.S. is seen as imperialistic.look at the end of the letter,"i will work diligently to ensure that the United States  remains a safe and prosperous nation". What a bold face lie!

DownsizeD.C. ,Jim Babka needs your help!

There are two Downsize DC organizations.
 * DownsizeDC.org, Inc. (hereafter, ORG) _educates_ the powerful, especially Congress.
 * Downsize DC Foundation (Foundation) educates the public.
Most days, we send you this Dispatch from ORG, with a congressional action item.
So far this year, the Foundation has participated in two amicus curiae briefs in federal courts, worked in a coalition to protect charitable groups from new and onerous state regulation, and consulted with activists working on other projects. It also has published more than 30 blog entries.

Today's message is about the Foundation.
I need BOTH of these organizations, and I need to keep money flowing into each of them, for both functional and legal reasons. So I'm in a bit of a bind right now . . .
I'm $5,400 short on the Foundation side. It's not a lot of money, but it's a serious problem. Here's some good news . . .
Contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible (that's not true of ORG).
Here's more good news: ORG has a lot of new donors coming in lately. Thus, in some ways our financial situation has never been better, but . . .
What I really need is for some supporters who donated last year to renew their support, and for them to invest in the Foundation. If you can do this, please click here.
New donors are welcome too, of course. If you've been thinking of starting a monthly pledge, and you need tax deductions for the coming year, consider starting a monthly pledge with the Downsize DC Foundation.
Also, we can accept appreciated securities, saving the donor capital gains taxes. If you'd like to donate stock, please email us at Feedback at DownsizeDC dot ORG.
Thanks in advance!

Environmental group Oceana leads Fort Lauderdale protest against oil drilling
Well i reckon these people like $5 dollars a gallon gas prices. If they cared for the poor they would not be protesting. What will oil drilling off the coast of Fort Lauderdale do for the economy? Like give jobs to the local community and lower the government hand outs and improve the quality of life in Broward County. No, thats crazy talk and besides government does a lot better job taking care of everybody. The cats need take a step back and look at the bigger picture. I do hope this will help Broward Economy if this happens.

Counterfeiting is illegal, but the Federal Reserve is doing it anyway.

We encourage you to send a letter as well, and you my borrow from or copy this . . .
If we measured price inflation the way we did in 1979, it would be at 9.6%. http://www.cnbc.com/id/42551209 .
And it's still 5.5%, even by the new measurements.
This is NOT the result of choices by free individuals in a free market. It's the DIRECT result of the Federal Reserve's legalized counterfeiting -- what they call "quantitative easing."
The value of each dollar falls as the Fed creates more of them. This is theft.
* The elderly see their savings evaporate
* People with low incomes find it harder to pay their bills

This is the Federal State's fault, and it's up to you to fix it. You can do so by co-sponsoring H.R. 1098, the Free Competition in Currency Act. This bill will . . .
* Abolish the legal tender law that compels people to accept Federal Reserve notes as payment for debts
* Allow individuals and businesses to choose their form of money, including gold and silver
* Prohibit federal and state taxes, such as capital gains, on precious metal coins and bullion, thereby allowing these things to serve as currency

The Fed won't dilute its dollar when it's confronted by fair competition from private currencies. Prices will stabilize. Boom and bust cycles will end.
Ending the Fed's money monopoly would be a huge step toward a nation, and a world, of peace, prosperity, and freedom. Please support H.R. 1098.

Richard Rubin pleads guilty to income tax evasion

Richard Rubin pleads guilty to income tax evasion
Even though I'm not a fan of Mr Rubin, I'm also not a fan of the I.R.S. more. This is gone on too long. The only notable politician against the I.R.S. is Ron Paul. Mr Paul is a congressman from Texas 14th district and a 2008 presidential candidate for the republican party. Hopefully one day, we will get to keep the fruits of our labor

A letter from Senator Bill Nelson, just hot air AGAIN

Thank you for sharing your views on the Federal budget.  I have long been committed to getting Federal spending under control, going back to my support for a balanced budget in the 1980s.

It is important that we look at all areas of Federal spending to find new ways to reduce the nation’s nearly $14 trillion debt. That’s why I recently voted in support of a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution, and voted to ban earmarks for three years. Furthermore, I am a cosponsor to the Reduce Unnecessary Spending Act (S.102), which would establish a streamlined procedure for Congress to vote on discretionary spending cuts proposed by the President, much like a line-item veto.

While I support reasonable cuts to discretionary spending, it is clear that we cannot balance our budget through discretionary spending cuts alone. That’s why I am pressing my colleagues to support a comprehensive approach to deficit reduction that not only eliminates duplicative programs, but also reduces extraneous procurements and phases-out unnecessary and outdated tax breaks that only benefit a few large corporations. Furthermore, we must continue efforts to curb the fraud that plagues programs like Medicare and Medicaid, which costs taxpayers billions.

Ultimately, I believe if we come together in a good-faith effort, and let go of partisan posturing, we can enact responsible solutions to our fiscal situation, and at the same time, ensure economic opportunity for the middle class.

I appreciate hearing from you on this important matter. As the Senate considers appropriations bills and measures to reduce the deficit, I will work to ensure that Federal spending reflects the values and priorities of Floridians. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future.

                                   Sincerely,
                                   Senator Bill Nelson
There is nothing in this about reducing military spending, and giving tax breaks to the ones ,that need it ,YOU AND ME.we work hard and like to keep what is ours.

As typical with republicans, wanting to cut social services spending, nothing is mentioned about, cutting military spending, notice I said "military" spending, not "defense" spending. There has to be made ALL around, not just a cut here and slice here. some real cuts.Help spread the message, go to downsizedc.org and lets cut down government, it was started by the late ,great Libertarian ,Harry Browne.

More than 160 volunteers help spruce up Miramar's Fairway Park

More than 160 volunteers help spruce up Miramar's Fairway Park
with volunteers who needs government workers. Another story with similar outcome, was in Hawaii.A community need a state refurbished. it was going to take the state about 3 years and several million dollars, with volunteers and mom and pop businesses donate some supplies, The volunteers did it in just Three days. Here's the story:

Hawaii lawmakers are pushing hard to get President Barack Obama's childhood home in Honolulu named a national landmark. If passed, it's sure to annoy Obama. Why? Well, if Polihale State Park on Hawaii's Kauai island is any indication, he'll have to roll up his sleeves and fix the plumbing himself.

Tired of waiting for help after flooding ruined facilities at the state park, nearby residents pulled an impressive DIY job and completed the estimated $4 million repairs just in time for tourist season.

From CNN:

"It would not have been open this summer, and it probably wouldn't be open next summer," said Bruce Pleas, a local surfer who helped organize the volunteers. "They said it would probably take two years. And with the way they are cutting funds, we felt like they'd never get the money to fix it."

Ivan Slack, co-owner of Napali Kayak, said his company relies solely on revenue from kayak tours and needs the state park to be open to operate. The company jumped in and donated resources because it knew that without the repairs, Napali Kayak would be in financial trouble....

So Slack, other business owners and residents made the decision not to sit on their hands and wait for state money that many expected would never come. Instead, they pulled together machinery and manpower and hit the ground running March 23.

And after only eight days, all of the repairs were done, Pleas said. It was a shockingly quick fix to a problem that may have taken much longer if they waited for state money to funnel in.

"We can wait around for the state or federal government to make this move, or we can go out and do our part," Slack said. "Just like everyone's sitting around waiting for a stimulus check, we were waiting for this but decided we couldn't wait anymore."

With the project finished, residents and business owners are now...waiting. The only thing left is having their home-made bridge certified, and of course, the tourists. But the folks deserve a shout out.

The challenge was borne out of necessity and the folks were probably not concerned with political labels. But the project is a great example of communities working (faster, and cheaper) without government. As Brian Doherty noted, in his recent Cato Unbound discussion with Seasteader Patri Friedman:

...an organized state with a monopoly on rule-making and force is not necessary to accomplish all vital social tasks...we can, if we are smart and brave, build something like our own culture from the ground up.

It's great to see real action put to a feasible and concrete use. Perhaps next, the residence of Kauai can establish their own police force and do something about one of Hawaii's biggest problems:

The first one is safer and the second one is plain greed.

Gun Free Zones are predator kill zones

Opponents of Gun-Free Zones at Universities Find Unlikely Hero in Nevada Woman

By Claudia Cowan
Published April 08, 2011
| FoxNews.com
Across the country, lawmakers are debating whether universities should let students and faculty with permits carry their concealed weapon on campus. Those who want to put an end to such gun-free zones have found an unlikely hero in a petite, soft spoken, young woman who wonders why colleges protect most Constitutional rights, but not the one that matters most when staring into the face of a violent criminal.
Amanda Collins, 25, is a wife and new mom, and a concealed weapon permit holder for years. At her father's law office in Reno, she showed us the 9-mm Glock she carries for her safety.
"It's got a pretty standard magazine," she said, "and night sights so you can see in the dark when you're aiming."
However, Collins couldn't aim her gun at the serial rapist who attacked her at the University of Nevada at Reno, where she was a student. That's because, like most public colleges outside of Utah and Colorado, UNR is a "gun free" zone. The rule required her to leave her gun at home, leaving her defenseless the one time she needed its protection most.
In October of 2007, while walking to her car after a night class, Collins was grabbed from behind in a university parking garage less than 300 yards from a campus police office. The school's "gun-free" designation meant nothing to James Biela, a serial rapist with a gun of his own, who saw Collins as an easy target. "He put a firearm to my temple," she recounted, "clocked off the safety, and told me not to say anything, before he raped me.

Federal government ,an answer for everything.

After all the fear based talk on the news, i wonder if you really listened. The Federal Government is the answer for everything.800,000 employees without a job, military personnel will not be paid ,mortages cannot be filed, tax refund checks can't be mailed out, social security checks are not going to get the people on fixed income, they need their money, so on and so on. The Federal Government was made to look like the Saviour in all this mess, what is need to fix all this,MORE GOVERNMENT, you have got to be kidding me. The whinning, who is going to save us if the federal government shuts down? It was appauling  to say the least. Where is the America that had some intestinal foritude? Now America is afraid of it's own shadow and wants it's security blanky. Well America if you need a better mouse trap or a set of balls, look no further than the Federal Government, it's in the Presidents Drawer marked, in case of emergency, just squeeze.

A letter from Senator Marco Rubio from Florida

Dear Mr. Targett,

I appreciate you reaching out to me regarding one of the biggest challenges facing our state and nation: the federal budget and out-of-control spending. As Florida's Senator, it is my priority to confront these issues by reducing wasteful spending, eliminating duplicative and inefficient government programs, and working to ensure the solvency of entitlement programs.

The United States' government's exorbitant spending must stop. This year, our federal deficit has reached $1.65 trillion, and that is why I strongly support a Constitutional balanced budget amendment and the House-passed Continuing Resolution (H.R. 1) and strongly oppose President Obama's budget proposal for Fiscal Year 2012. The era of big government has driven us into debt and we must take the necessary measures to reverse it.

Food, Healthcare, Education, Transportation, Cellular phone. What?

http://www.usac.org/
Watch t.v and you will see something about, Assurance Wireless and about two to three other free cell phone offers, but here's the catch; you have to be on public assistance for this program. Big government will get you anything you need, just come to them with your hat in your hand ans ask for a government handout.I know wow, thats mean ,you sound like those mean republicans that hate children and old people.

Shut Down the Federal State

Quote of the Day: "The whole secret of existence is to have no fear. Never fear what will become of you, depend on no one. Only the moment you reject all help are you freed." -- Buddha
One action could balance the federal budget instantly, if you want that. Here it is . . .
Reject any increase in the federal debt ceiling. This would shut down the federal state until a balanced budget is passed.
That sounds scary, and there are many politicians who want you to fear it. They claim this will . . .
* cause economic cataclysm
* stop Social Security checks from reaching seniors
* strand soldiers without fuel, food, and bullets
None of these things are true. Revenues will still flow into the federal government even if the debt ceiling isn't raised, and the politicians can still decide what continues to flow out. They can continue to pay the interest on the national debt, and Social Security payments. The only way they would stop doing these things is in order to MANIPULATE YOU.

Pines puts 4 more red light cameras online

Pines puts 4 more red light cameras online

Wow, they are not making money and these asshole are putting 4 more red light cameras. Government is hard headed. And they claim that don't have money, so why do they do this. To justify raising taxes because of it. The statist are hard at work. And they are trying to tax you to death and control you every step of the way.

Hit the enemy at it's weakest point, with overwhelming force

Quote of the Day: "That kind of spontaneity requires careful planning." -- from "The Second Violin" by John Lawton
Let me tell you about it first.
It shows BJ Lawson, a DC Downsizer and former Congressional candidate from North Carolina, confronting Representative David Price at a town-hall meeting.
BJ asks the following question: "Did you READ the PATRIOT Act, and the Domestic Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act, before voting FOR them?"
Price dodges the question, and it looks like the dodge works, because BJ simply smiles and sits down. But here's the kicker . . .
9,600+ people have seen the video, and read the commentary panels about the Congressman's non-responsiveness. Considered in that light, did Price's dodge really work?
I think BJ did something powerful. He hit Price at a weak point, using a public forum to ask Price a question he didn't want to answer.

Red-light cameras might not improve safety, Fort Lauderdale finds - Fort Lauderdale - MiamiHerald.com
The lone voice of reasoning came from city commissioner, Charlotte Rodstrom, It's not improving safety and it's not generating revenue,Then i don't see a reason. Exactly commissioner. It's was called a proposal, like a prospects, these are forward looking statements, not indicative of future market results.
This what happens when you invest money in bad stock, you lose. All these commissioners see,all this money is out there ,and it's just waiting for us to take it.OK. The last time i looked it was called greed. I thought greed was bad, but only if it's for the public good.

And another shutdown under way. I can only hope.

As blogged on this site 17 Feb,2011. March 4th, a government shutdown was averted, I was heartbroken. Atlantic news wire, has stated that if a government shutdown happens, the post office will remain open. The I.R.S. will be CLOSED. Someone tell me where's the problem in this picture?Parks and Monument services will be shutdown, but social security checks will be still mailed out.The I.R.S. will be CLOSED. The taxpayers for once will be able to breathe. If you are waiting on the refund check, keep waiting, i mean the check is in the mail, because the post office is still open. For being stand up, 21 Senate Democrats sent John Boehner a letter stating "That if government shuts down that the Senate and House and the President, should not get paid". Once again i fail to see the problem. This might curb some of the vacation time for the First Family. Give Air Force ONE a needed rest. Here we are at the cross roads ,again. I want to see a shutdown.

30 years after Reagan was shot, outlook dim for gun control - Issues & Ideas - MiamiHerald.com

30 years after Reagan was shot, outlook dim for gun control - Issues & Ideas - MiamiHerald.com
Gun control is a hot button topic in America. While the 2nd amendment assure the fundamental rights of Americans is ownership of a gun or as i like to call them weapons. Some ultra- left supporters like the idea of only military and police owning or having weapons. Some supporters of the 2nd amendment, don't like the idea of only military or police having weapons. Dictators of the past like outlawing weapons as a means of controlling society. I'm remained of the Warsaw ghetto ,where a handful of weapons kept the Gestapo at bay for several days. The regular Army had to come in with tanks and heavy machine gun fire and overwhelm the resistors. Besides only states have the right to issue weapons laws, not the federal government.Sheriff Richard Mack, and 6 other sheriff's sued the Clinton Administration over the Brady Bill and won . The Supreme Court said it was a state issue. The sheriff is the CLEO ( constitutional law enforcement officer). is the front line of this. If the sheriff actually follows this, he has trampled on your rights. I hope 67 sheriffs in Florida will do the right thing on this.

If the tea party was in influenced by Libertarians maybe, The republicans will be real conservatives instead of neo-cons.
