Libertarian Basics by Walter Block

Libertarian Basics by Walter Block

Just thought about the basics of being a Libertarian. I was watching Glenn Beck ,one evening,(i was channel surfing). And Glenn asked a question. What is different between Republicans and Libertarians? No body in the audience said anything. I think we as people who advocate for Liberty, and no oppression from the state, need to know a simple answer, That will be the lynch pin in all of this.

Liberty- is a concept in political philosophy that identifies the condition in which human beings are able to govern themselves, to behave according their own free will, and take responsibility for their actions. Law.com defines Liberty-n. Freedom from restraint and the power to follow one's own will to choose a course of conduct. Liberty ,like Freedom has it's inherent restraint to act without harm to others and within the accepted rules of conduct for the benefit of the general public.

Libertarian-a person who advocates liberty. especially with thought and conduct, a person who maintains the doctrine of free will.

Republican- one who favors a republic is best form of government. against monarchy and a dictorship. generally associated with the rule of law.

I would rather be a Libertarian, as Fredric Bastiat said, the law has been perverted.
